young and free...and slighty wasted

Coldplay in two days...not even two days.I'm so excited that I don't realize it's almost time.I wonder which hotel they're gonna stay at...I'm sure it will be fantastic.
Other than that not much is going on.Just trying to figure out where I'm gonna go once I've graduate.Gradschools applications are difficult and stressful. For now I've got some schools in London,Australia,NYC, and here in Montreal...I have to check others out.I think Montreal would be the best, for a lot of reasons.First I like it here and I like the house.Second, the program is great, the department knows me, I like the environment and the principal teacher in the program is like this really famous professor in the field who knows all these people and makes conferences at the Hague. He knows me well and I've had him as my teacher.Plus the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Holocaust Studies is here in my university and is one of the best in the field. How great is that?I think I'll get in but you never know.I need to apply to different programs and it's a little stressful.A high GPA is not all at this point...although it helps.
I got shit drunk the other night with my friends and we were on the other side of town and had to ride back home on our bikes. It took us like an hour instead of 30 minutes. It was a fun ride: laughs, drama, tears (not from me), and laughs again.Though there are some blanks in my mind.Like..."we did that?" or how did I get back home?I mean I remember how I opened the door cause I was much more lucid by then but I can't remember the 15 minutes just before being home...I don't know how I put the bike lock on and stuff. It's fun, really.Love it.I wasn't sick so it was all very good.
The Divers City Festival is on in 2 days. It's this Gay and Lesbian Festival that last like a week. It's fun really. Some cute men...unfortunately it's not me that they want but the other cute men around me.I think it's a shame.
HAHAHAHA so funny!!!!This ad is one about Stars Wars video games or digital movie and there was Ewan (as Obi Wan).HILARIOUS.Huge beard.Even as a cartoon character.Love it.
Oh!!Harry Potter is on!yay...Gonna watch it.Wands wands wands (you should look at the face book groups about Harry Potter and his wand...some names are quite inventive."Harry Potter can play with his wand so why can't I?" or "I'd let Hermione Granger give my wand a swish and a flick"...Crazy people)

World Affairs

I'm reading this pretty interesting book right now about the state of American politics and life. There is this chapter about 'homeland security' since 9/11.The author, Matt Frei (he's a British BBC journalist living in America), explains that what actually causes more fear and scares the shit out of people is the danger at home: guns. There was a killing spree in 2006 in Washington when two guys started shooting at random people. No reason at all.It took forever to catch them.2 weeks I think.Considering the amount of money they put in security measures and how laws and policies the government passes in order to protect American citizens, yet two guys kill like 10 people in two weeks and nobody is able to catch them.Frei explains how scared people were during these two weeks, barricaded into their houses and schools, afraid to go out and get gas at the nearby petrol station or go grocery shopping.I think he's right.Guns cause much more damage in the US than terrorism.I mean guns are so present and kill so many people every year that journalists don't even report about it anymore when it happens in Black or Hispanic neighbourhoods. There is no point apparently cause it happens all the freaking time.In Europe, someone brings a gun out and kills one persons and makes the news for like 10 minutes because it's not something that should happen.I know Americans love the Constitution and it does state that people are allowed to have a gun, it's personal property but I'm sure more people die from gun wounds every year than from terrorists attacks...so I understand that Americans are scared of terrorists attacks after 9/11 but guns cause more damage so maybe they should put some money into that instead.
Frei was also talking about the time when someone at the government or news (Fox news probably, the channel most American watch....uuuuhhh) said that there could be a possible chemical attack.People went nuts!!!They bout special clothes, bought plastic sheeting to protect themselves, batteries, flash lights, bottles of water, candles, tins, matches, nobody took the tube...blablabla.People were wondering where to hide in their house in case there was an actual chemical attack. It never came, of course. There just so much fear that people go crazy crazy.Anyway...in a way that's funny cause if there is indeed a chemical attack I'm not we can do much about it.And the fact that people go crazy is a little funny...just all the things they do, you know. But it's also scary...they're really obsessive. You never what people can do or say when they are scared...Remember Freedom Fries?Patriotism and the Patriot Act?That's actually a little scary.
What a world!

Cover cover?

In celebrity news, it seems that everyone is having babies.Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Matthew McConaughey and his lady,Angelina Jolie (shouldn't be too long) and Jamie Lynn is on the cover of OK! with her kid...Why, oh why?I mean I can maybe understand why the Jolie-Pitts and JLo and other parents do it (although it's alitte weird, but at least the papz won't run after you.Spawn of Satan). But Spears is a little young.I mean she is 17...I don't think you should do that...I'm not usually conservative but I certainly don't think that having a child at 17 is good.I'm not saying she's gonna be bad mother because a lot of older people are bad parents but she is gonna miss out on a lot of things, you know.So I don't think you should put teen pregnancy on the cver of tabloids.15 year old girls will think that being pregnant at 16 or so is not a problem and brings you money when you're famous.I mean come on..I mean she is luckier then other girls who do not have as much money and comfort, are not celebrities, cannot finish their education, do not always have parents who are going to support them...Sorry I just find it weird to put a 17 year old girl and her baby on a magazine so many teen girls buy.I wouldn't want kids to think that it's so great to be a mom at 16.Everyone knows what happened in Massachussetts...17 girls pregnant because they think it's cool and fun to raise their kids together. No no no.
So...I'm gonna be away for a few days.Well til Sunday so that's alright. No internet for 4 days....that's gonna be a little difficult.hehehe.I know, pathetic.

Married men

Great!....I've developed a crush on James McAvoy.Well not a reeeaaal crush just like...you know, he's cute, is a good actor and has a Scottish accent. That's basically what I need.I wish Patrick Dempsey had a Scottish or British accent. That would probably kill me.Anyway, I saw McScottish in Atonement, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Last King of Scotland as well as in Becoming Jane.I've also seen bits and pieces of Wanted...but action movies are not exactly my thing.I think he was excellent in the Last King of Scotland and Atonement. It's shame he is married though.I can't have any of a my men pleasures: McPitt = married, McScottish = married, McDreamy = married. No no no.That won't do.Hollywood men settle down and have kids...and then they get prettier and prettier. These days, Hollywood men get handsomer with age...why is that? It's like Dorian Gray all over again. But they actually settle down with an actress and they calm down.Done with partying and all, they just take care of their wife and kids.Others, like McHotsingle (Clooney), odon't wanna have a wife or girlfriend...So,basically, there like no chance for the non-famous.
This rant makes no sense but I don't care.Just got carried away in my fantasy :)

Oooooh Caaaanaadaaaa!!!

Just a quick post to say: Happy Canada day!!!I don't know what they do on Canada day but everything is closed...except Blockbusters. But what's funny is that a lot of people move on the 1rst of July. It's a tradition.Radio station have special moving day music and shows. How weird is that.In France you've got the freaking military parade and here very body moves out and in.It's a real circus but it's fun.I just think they should just enjoy their day off and make barbecues. So apparently it's more Happy Moving Day then Happy Canada Day :)
